The Taste of Country Music Festival took place this weekend and one of the big headliners of the weekend was Sam Hunt. Unfortunately, Sam Hunt got sick and had to pull out of the festival which is something he has never had to do before.
Thank you for making the fifth annual Taste of Country Music Festival a success. Unfortunately, we have some news we need to update you on. We have just learned that, due to illness, Sam Hunt will not be able to perform tonight. We understand and share your disappointment, but our next artist Kip Moore has an amazing show planned for you tonight to close out our festival. At this time, we simply ask you to hold on to your ticket purchase receipts until we can get back to you with more information, which we will do as soon as possible. Please monitor our social media channels and website for updates and thank you for continuing to support the Taste of Country Music Festival.
Taste of Country shared this note with fans on Sunday afternoon as the news was announced.
Sunday was Day 3 and the final day of the annual festival, which is similar to Country 500 where there is camping and stuff all three-days but in Hunter, N.Y. Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert headlined the first two nights of the fest, with artists like Tyler Farr, Chris Young and Kip Moore filling out the lineup. Perfect weather and a packed Hunter Mountain are the lasting images of the 2017 fest.
Hunt just started his 15 in a 30 Tour, a summer-long trek that includes ToC Fest artists Maren Morris and Chris Janson. He played during the 2017 CMA Festival in Nashville on Friday (June 9), and he tried to press on for Sunday night’s show, but told his fans via social media that he simply could not sing the songs in a way that would do them justice. He posted a photo to instagram and captioned it “New York I’ve never had to cancel a show before but tonight I flat out can’t sing anywhere near as well as I need to do these songs justice. I got sick and I’ve had some issues with my voice. I tried pushing through for a show a couple nights ago and zapped everything I had left.
I believe in mind over matter but this time it let me down. I’ll do what I need to do to make it up to all the folks who came out to see us tonight.”
