Thursday morning there was a press conference in front of Pulse Nightclub where the owner confirmed that the site of the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history will be turned into a memorial and museum. Owner Barbara Poma stated, “I now know that my role is to ensure that Pulse become a place of healing. It is a time for Pulse to contribute to the community in a permanent way, a healing way.”  There was press, first responders and victims families in the crowd of this press conference listening to Poma reveal her plans for a memorial. While few other details have been released about the memorial, Poma added that its design–and the content within–will be decided by survivors of the massacre, family members of those killed, and the doctors and nurses who treated the victims, as well as the greater Orlando community. Forty-nine people were killed and at least 53 others were wounded on that horrible June 12th day last year.
