Little Big Town’s new single “Better Man” was written of course by Taylor Swift but when the song came out the group didn’t share that fact. As Karen shares, they wanted fans to hear it first:

Karen Fairchild (of LBT) states “She is the biggest pop star in the world, but she’s a songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee, and she likes to tell a story, and we didn’t want you to have any subtext there, other than to hear this song. And we did that, and it had like the biggest add day in our history with the guys at Universal that we ever had, and so we were like, ‘Damn, we were right! This is a good song! You know? Nobody even knows!’ So, for all the people that we told little white lies to, we didn’t really lie. We said a young girl from Nashville, Tennessee wrote it.”

Better Man also hit the No.1 spot on iTunes.

This is Taylor’s 20th appearance in the top 10 of the country music charts, and her second as a writer, according to Billboard. It also marks the first time she has been in the country music charts as a solo artist since her 10-week number one We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.

Better Man isn’t Taylor’s first collaboration with Little Big Town. They joined the singer onstage during her The 1989 World Tour at Heinz Field in June (15) in Pittsburgh, and she returned the favor by making a recent surprise appearance at their CMAs after-party.
